a 1940 Indan Sport Scout. (or should I say "Brave!")
This beautiful piece of motorcycle history has some history of
its own. It was judged at an Easyriders Show and received Editors
Choice and it is currently running as a feature in the August
Edition of Biker Magazine. Professionally restored by Wymond
Walkem of Walkem Cycle of Gerogetown Ontario, this custom Indian
has a heart that beats like a warrior! The engine is the original
45 cubic inch Flathead that has been completely rebuilt and stroked
to 57 cubic inches using 74" Chief flywheels and a set of
Robins Stroker Pistions. To breath even more life into this bad
boy a special set of tracker cams, backed up by lightened lifters
were installed. The intake and exhaust ports were opened for
flow and a larger modified Linkert installed to mix the fuel.
The original "coffee can" type air cleaner was chromed
and added to allow airflow to move freely inward. The hand fabricated
exhaust pipes are replicas of the factory race pipes and are
also show chromed. Now to only transfer this warriors horsepower
to the ground. This was done with the original 3 speed transmission
that was completely rebuilt. Shifting is via foot clutch and
jockey shift. All of the was assembled on the OEM frame that
is painted Gloss black. The gas/oil tanks are OEM units and are
in excellent condition. The front suspension is a 1953-54 era
HD K-Model unit that was completely rebuilt with chrome tubes
and headlight pot. The risers, controls and handlebars are also
like new and it hands like a stallion. Rolling down the highway
on original Indian wheels that have been rebuilt and painted
gloss black and mounted to Dunlop Tires to hold the road (front
100/90-19 Gold Seal, Back K627 110/90-18). The rear fender has
been chopped/bobbed a penis tail light added. Looking at the
bike you will notice one thing from start and that is the paint.
Dressed in silver with black scallops and red pin striping it
is adorned with a custom 40's style mural of a lovely lady appropriately
named "lil-Indian". The paint job is first class and
our pictures don't do it justice. Alot of love and attention
went into the reconstruction of this Indian Scout. Its rebirth
brings new life into old blood. This little beauty is fresh as
they come with less than 10 miles on it and it is the perfect
addition to any Indian or Motorcycle enthusists collection. A
good daily rider this little brave can take you to places you
have never imagined. Ready for the road and currenly looking
for a new home! How about yours? "
Thanks to the owners Wymond & Devah Walkem for their hospitality
and laughs while visiting their home for the above photo shoot.
