You are viewing a custom 1940 Olds Model 70 Touring Sedan. This car built from a solid original Olds Model 70 that was originally purchased in North Carolina and ended up in a barn in Roan Mountain Tennessee. The only body repair necessary on the entire car was a section behind the rear bumper that measured about 6 inches wide by one foot long. Other than that it was a solid donor car. It is painted with PPG paint, two tone, 2000 Harley Davidson Dark Garnet Red on top and Chevy sand Bage on the bottom. The Garnet Red is base coat clear coat to prevent fading. It features custom pin striping on the sides and trunk lid. The pin stripping is Red White & Blue twisted Barbed wire leading into a Stars and Stripes Banner. The trunk lid has Red, White & Blue twisted Barbed wire pin striping above the trunk handle. She features all of the original trim, running boards, grill and bumpers. Bumpers were re chromed. There is some minor pitting in the hood ornament, trunk handles, wiper mounts, door handles, grill and trunk hinges. The trunk hinges, grill and wiper mounts have been painted and look good. The frame is original with a Nova sub frame and Nova rear end. The suspension features new air shocks on the rear. It is powered by a 350 crate engine with an Edelbrock Performer Intake mounted with an Edelbrock 600 Carb. The transmission is a rebuilt 350 turbo. Some other goodies under the hood include a Walker Radiator with an oil cooler mounted on front, power steering, power brakes, air, new battery, and single Turbo Exhaust. This car runs like a champ and is a good driver. The interior was done by Speedway Seat Covers in Johnson City Tennessee. It is burgundy Tweed throughout with matching carpet, headliner and dash paint. It features all the original hardware, still in great condition, new Voltmeter gauges - Fuel, Volt, Speedo, Temp, Oil in a custom dash mount. All are functional. Other goodies include Cold Air, Heat, AM/FM Cassette w/6 disc CD changer in trunk piping to four hidden pioneer speakers for good sound. The dash features the original chrome trim and clock (not functional), original sun visors that still has the original passenger mirror on it with a service schedule printed on it. First time I have seen this in any street rod or classic i have sold. They also feature the original mounting hardware that includes an adjustment T handle screw to allow the visors to be moved to the side window and adjusted to the length of the mounting rod. An innovation before its time. All the glass has been replaced with new GM spec glass and new steel rubber installed throughout. All the door rubber and seals were also replaced as well as the mounting trim on the outer fenders. The car even has the original interior light switch and cab light. The tilt steering column is out of a late model Jeep wagon and bolted in without any knuckle changes. All the lights, signals, horn, and gadgets work (except the original clock mentioned above). There has also been a third brake light installed. It has lap belts in both the front and rear seats. The trunk is done in Burgundy carpet and has a safety spare mounted vertically in the back but the original spare tire and jack storage are still in tact under the carpet and is used for storage. The body is straight with little filler and the lines on the car are all good. The running boards are the original steel items, in excellent condition and have been coated with a spray on bedliner. Other original items the car include the original emergency brake handle/mechanism that is functional, the hood fresh air vent that is functional, original gas tank, and the owner even has some of the original documentation to go with it. All in all this is a very solid, well built custom street rod that has been a good dependable driver for the current owner. He has a new project in mind and has decided to part company with her. She is a good buy for the asking price and will make someone a great memory maker. She is currently looking for a new home. How about yours?
