| Some cars are destine to be famous and this one has had its share of the lime light. She once belonged to Mr. Terry Cook, former editor of Hot Rod and Car Craft Magazines,etc. Not only that but this "Tricked Out" 41 Buick "Lead Sled" Lowrider is the handy work of famed Iowa customizer Lee Pratt. This is not your average boring street rod as it has been on 5 different magazine covers circa 1980 when first completed. Lee took the body off of a 65 Buick Skylark and used that frame and running gear as the basis for the car. The frame was stretched to match the wheel base of the 41 Buick. She is powered by a 300 cu.in. Buick V-8 that was rebuilt with a valve job, new exhaust valves, head surfacing etc. in May of 1999. It has an automatic transmission and features a new interior, air, telescopic wheel, cruise, power windows, power seats, power steering, power brakes, automatic doors, power antenna, new "Reds" hydraulic pumps with built in dampers and a new NOS sun visor. The paint is 2 tone purple (light purple metal flake roof and trunk & dark candy purple body) that is 18 years old. This car has always been a daily driver and has numerous rock nicks , a crack in the leading edge of the front fender due to contact with road debris (a 6x6 in a toll booth) and a scratch in the paint on one finder skirt. There are a few spots where rust is coming through but nothing major. Several years ago the bumpers were re-chromed as was the interior window frames. This bad ass toy sits on the ground and is guaranteed to turn every head it passes. Celebrity status or not the owner has new interests and says to offer her to the world of street rodders again to be reborn in the new millennium. You can buy dozens of street rods for $25,000 each but you can't buy one with this much style and fun for that price anywhere. She is currently looking for a new home. How about yours? | |||||||||
